New Market - Earl J. Bonwell, 86, former Montgomery County commissioner and Scott Twp Trustee, died at 10;40 a.m. Wednesday in his home here after a long illness. Mr. Bonwell, a retired farmer served two terms each as trustee and commissioner. He was a member of the New Market United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and 50-year member of Knights of Pythias here. He attended school in Tippecanoe Co. A native of the New Richmond area, he was born March 14, 1884, a son of Robert A. and Jennie Malsbary Bonwell. He was married Feb 16, 1910 to Ruth Hoss. Surviving are two sons, Robert of Crawfordsville and David of New Market; a sister, Mrs. Opal Sayler of New Market; 4 grandchildren and four greats. His wife preceded him in death in 1968. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Reeves Funeral Home at New Market with Rev. Bill Schalk officiating. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery at Crawfordsville. Friends may pay respects at the funeral home. - kbz
