Stebb Booe, 94, retired builder and a Hillsboro native, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday in an Urbana, Ill nursing home. Except for the last year and a half, Booe had spent his entire life in Hillsboro. Before his retirement several years ago, the deceased was self-employed as a bricklayer in the Hillsboro area. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Chapter and Hillsboro Christian Church. A son of Simon S. and Darli Piles Booe, he was born Dec 26, 1872. He was married in 1895 to Lizzie E. Pithoud in Hillsboro. She died in 1942. Surviving are two sons, Hubert of Hammond, Ill and Herbert of Urbana; three daughters, Mrs. Marie Groves of Bloomington, Ill; Mrs. Elvira Bauer of South Bend and Mrs. Margaret Cooper of Crawfordsville; 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by 5 children. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday in Crumley-William Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
