Elkanah Booher living 5 miles southwest of here died at his home Monday morning at 8:30 o'clock. His death was due to a complication of heart trouble and pneumonia and he had been ill but a few days. Mr. Booher who was 89 had spent all his life near here and was one of the best known farmers in this vicinity. For more than 60 years he was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and his funeral was held there Wed morning at 10 o'clock. He is survived by one son Luther Booher of Shannondale, and 3 daughters, Mrs. Emma Ford of Darlington, Mrs. Eliza Ratcliff of Russiaville and Mrs. Belle Rankin who lived with her father. -- kbz

Darlington, Dec 31 – Elkanah Booher, aged 89 years, died at his home near here this morning at 8:30 o’clock after an illness of only a few days. His death was caused by a complication of pneumonia and heart trouble and he had been ill less than a week. Mr. Booher was one of the best known farmers in the vicinity having lived almost all of his life near here. He affiliated with the St. James Lutheran Church more than three score years ago and had been a faithful member there. The funeral services will be held from the Lutheran Church Wednesday morning beginning at 10:30. The deceased is survived by one son, Luther Booher of Shannondale, three daughters: Mrs. Emma Ford, Darlington; Mrs. Eliza Ratcliffe, Russiaville; and Mrs. Belle Rankin, living with her father, 5 miles southwest of Darlington.- kbz
