Willa Bowers, 85, of 714 S. Green St., widow of former Crawfordsville postmaster Verner L. Bowers, died at 5:15 a.m. today in Culver Hospital. She was a member of the Montgomery County Historical Society, Cultural Society, New Ross United Methodist Church, Montgomery County Democrat Central Committe and Mt. Tabor Social Club. Mrs. Bowers was a secretary and school teacher in Montgomery County for several years. She was a graduate of New Ross High School and Central Normal College at Danville. She was born at Jamestown May 18, 1892, a daughter of James and Mary Helen Baber. Surviving are a daughter, Betty Bowers of Indianapolis; a brother, Fred Baber of New Ross; and two sisters, June Myers and Savor Norris, both of New Ross. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Bob. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Little officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.--waw
