New Ross, Nov. 27 Bruce Bowman, 81, a retired farmer living one-half mile east of here, was found dead at his home Thursday afternoon about 2 o’clock. The body was discovered by Emma Johnson, a neighbor living across the road. He had apparently died of a heart attack or stroke sometime Thursday morning, according to Deputy Sheriff Roy Hardaker, who investigated. Hardaker reported that there were no indications of violence and that the kitchen light had been left burning. Born in Boone county, Dec. 27, 1865, he was the son of Josiah and Mary Elizabeth Bowman. He married Rose SPARKS Sept. 27, 1888, who preceded him in death Aug. 3, 1939. He was a member of the New Ross Christian church. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude LINN and Mrs. Elmer Myers, both of near New Ross and two nephews, Mark Linn of Martinsville and Manson Linn of Urbana, Ill. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the New Ross Christian church with Rev. Forest Graves in charge, with burial in Pisgah Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the Hunt and Son funeral home prior to the services.-- typed by kbz
