Henry W. Bowman for the past 18 years a well-known citizen of Crawfordsville, passed away at his home, 1409 East Main Street last night about 9 o'clock. Death was due to Bright's disease from which Mr. Bowman had suffered for the past three weeks. Henry Washington Bowman was born near Shannondale June 7, 1847 and was the son of Christian and Lucinda Beck Bowman. He was twice married. His first wife was Miss Candace Craig and to this union one child was born (Mrs. Lester Morrison) who resides east of the city. Mr. Bowman's second wife was Miss Phoebe Beck of Crawfordsville. Most of Mr. Bowman's life was spent in the vicinity of Shannondale and he had a wide acquaintance in that part of the county. He was a man of irreproachable character, was a Christian gentleman and endowed with a kindly disposition which endeared him to all who knew him. He was a strong Church man, having been a pillar in the Shannondale Presbyterian Church for years and later was very prominent in the First Presbyterian Church of Crawfordsville. The funeral will take place at the Shannondale Presbyterian Church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 and will be in charge of Rev J.W. Frost. Interment will be made in the Shannondale Cemetery.
