Advance, Dec. 16 [1936] -- James A. Bowman, 83, died following a two weeks, illness with a complicaion of diseases at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon at his home in Advance. He had resided here for the past thirty-one years. Mr. Bowman was born April 18, 1853, near New Ross, the son of John C. and Mary E. LOCKRIDGE Bowman. He married Edmonia DENT on Jan. 22, 1874. The deceased was a member of the Advance Christian church. Surviving in addition to the widow are three sons, Carl C., of Advance; Lawrence C., Springfield, Mass., and Claude M., Cleveland; two daughters, Mrs. Mary J. BROWN and Mrs. Grace CALDWELL, both of Advance; a sister, Mrs. Walter HUNT Crawfordsville; a brother, Oliver Bowman, Beckville, and four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon from the Bowman home in Advance. The rites will be in charge of Rev. John Clark and burial will be in a Cemetery near Beckville. - typed by kbz
