Darlington Feb 24 - Mrs. Martha Bowers, 90, one of Darlington's oldest and most prominent residents died last evening at 7:15 o'clock after a few days illness with pneumonia. Mrs. Bowers had spent her entire life in this vicinity having been born two miles east of here in October 1843. Up until the time of her recent illness she had been unusually active both in church and philanthropic affairs. About 69 years ago she married Abraham Bowers who for many years was a banker in Darlington. He died several years ago. Mrs. Bowers was an active member of the Congregational Christian Church and last week during a revival attended all services. One daughter, Miss Ina Bowers survives, also a brother, Albert Booher of Darlington. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 o'clock from the Congregational Chrisitan Church.
