THORNTOWN — Edward Brakefield, 68, a resident of the Thorntown community for the past 35 years, died at 7:30 p.m Friday at Witham Hospital in Lebanon. He had been hospitalized since April 8. Born Aug. 18, 1900, in Tippecanoe County, Mr. Brakefield was the son of Andrew and Alice Lipprint Brakefield. He was married twice. His first wife was Inis Gillock, who died July 30, 1955. His second marriage was to Susie Louks on Aug. 10, 1956. She survives. Mr. Brakefield was a retired employe of the Firestone Rubber Co. plant at Noblesville. Surviving in addition to the widow are three daughters, Mrs. Juanita Sheets and Mrs. Margaret Stull, both of Rt. 2, Lebanon, and Mrs. Esther Robertson of Linden; three sons, Ralph Brakefield of Panoramia, Calif., Kenneth Brakefield of Linden and Richard Brakefield of Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.; one brother, Everett Brakefield of Bloomington, Ind.; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys McConnaha of Lafayette and Mrs. Elva Daley of Bloomington, Ill.; four stepchildren, Gene Louks of near Thorntown, Melvin Louks of Sheridan, Mrs. Mary Richardson of Rt. 4, Lebanon and Mrs. Wilma Hampton of Linden; seven grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at the Russell and Hitch Funeral Home in Thorntown at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Mina Davis officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery at Romney. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.--waw
