OLA BRASFIELD

WAVELAND – Ola Brasfield, 77, of Rt. 1, Waveland, died at 8:40 p.m. Saturday in Carmen Nursing Home at Crawfordsville. He had been in failing health six months. He was born in Crawfordsville on Nov. 27, 1891, a son of George and Mada Middleton Brasfield. On March 29, 1911 he was married in Crawfordsville to Ruby D. Caldwell, who preceded him in death. Mr. Brasfield was employed for many years at the Crawfordsville Canning Co. until it ceased operation. He also served as sexton at Freedom and Indian Creek Hill cemeteries. Survivors include a son, O. E. “Bud” Brasfield of Browns Valley; four daughters, Mrs. (Waneta) Fred Bayless of Rt. 7, Crawfordsville, and Mrs. (Pauline) Lester Bayless, Mrs. (Margaret) Herschel Thomas and Mrs. Mary Kathryn Crispin of Crawfordsville; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and an aunt, Mrs. Ada Middleton of Crawfordsville. A son died in infancy. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Machledt and Servies Funeral Home in Waveland, with Rev. Esmond Elliott officiating assisted by Rev. Allen Roberts. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today. – jlr
