JAMESTOWN – Charles E. Brown Jr., 57, Jamestown, died Wednesday night in Veterans' Administration Hospital at Indianapolis. He had been in failing health for the past eight years. He was employed for 28 years at the Union Carbide Corp. of Indianapolis. He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of Jamestown American Legion. Born Sept. 27, 1918, he was a son of Charles E. and Della Henderson Brown of Montgomery County. He was married to Norma Burgess on Feb. 13, 1939, at Lebanon. Survivors are his wife; six daughters, Mrs. Jan Veach of Thorntown and Mrs. Charlotte Borden, Mrs. Sharon Sellers, Mrs. Pat Edwards, Mrs. Carol Waldon and Mrs. Debbie Wright, all of Crawfordsville; five sons, Stanley, at home, Robert and Donald, both of Lebanon, Larry of Crawfordsville and Russel of Indianapolis; seven sisters, Mrs. Joel Weir of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Frank Moran and Mrs. Helen Burns, both of Indianapolis, Mrs. Edward Griggs of Muncie, Mrs. Perry Thomas of Illinois and Mrs. Esther Stanaforth and Mrs. Reva Hicks, both of Florida; a brother, Paul of Crawfordsville; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Walker Funeral Home at Jamestown. Burial will be in North Salem Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Friday. – jlr
