Clara Avis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Duke, was born near New Ross Nov. 15, 1896, and departed this life June 17, 1923, age 26 years, 7 months and 2 days. She was married to Iva Bryant of DeWitt, Ill., Oct. 21, 1916, and to this union two children were born, Donald, age 6 and Iva Ruth, seven weeks old. She had been a patient sufferer for many weeks and the family can console themselves by knowing all was done for her that earthly hands could do. Besides her husband and children she leaves a father and mother, brother, two sisters, grandfather and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services were held at the home of her parents, near New Liberty, June 19, in charge of W. J. Miles of New Market with interment at the New Ross Cemetery.
