Colesta F. Bratton, 90, formerly of 1520 Virginia St, died at 4:35 a.m. Friday June 4, 1999 at George Davis Manor. Mrs. Bratton was a sales clerk at LS Ayres in Lafayette from the store’s opening until her retirement in 1974. She formerly worked at Wabash College, Redwood Inn and Wilson Shirt Company all in Crawfordsville. Born Feb 1, 1909, in Putnam County, she moved to Wingate as a teenager. Mrs. Bratton attended Cloverdale and Wingate schools. She married Robert Maurice Bratton in 1925, in Wingate. He died in `1948. Mrs. Bratton was a member of the Wingate Pleasant Hill Church, the Wingate Home Economic Club and a former Pythian Sister. Surviving are a son, Robert K. Bratton of California; a daughter, Mrs. Arlen (Marcia) Brown of West Lafayette and a brother, Frank Broadstreet of Florida.
