MARSHALL – Mrs. Elva Burford, 91, formerly of Marshall and Indianapolis, died Monday morning in the United Methodist Home at Franklin. She was a retired practical nurse. Mrs. Burford was a member of the St. Luke United Methodist Church at Indianapolis. Born July 3, 1883, at Cherry Point, Ill., she was a daughter of Alfred and Selina Dooley Newlin. She married Parke L. Burford who died in 1937. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert K. (Virginia) Foust of Connersville; a sister, Mrs. Gail Dawson of Boulder, Colo.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Leland, who died in 1930. Graveside rites will be conducted in Bethany Cemetery at Marshall at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Fred Stewart officiating. Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home at Franklin will be in charge of services. – jlr
