JULIA EARP BUTCHER

Mrs. Julia Butcher died at the home of her son, William on Saturday morning after an illness of some weeks. The funeral services in charge of Rev. G.W. Alley were held on Sunday afternoon. Interment in the ME Cemetery. Julia C. Earp was born in Shelby County, Illinois August 24, 1833. When about six years old she removed with her parents to Putnam County, this state. She married James Butcher December 31, 1854. Three children were born, Charles Morton and William. The latter two are still living. She joined the ME Church when about 12 and lived a true Christian life until her death. Her loving and gentle nature was ever ready to say a kind word for all and her reward was the love and friendship of all who knew her. Those present from a distance were John W. Earp of Greencastle, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Grimes and Mrs. James Swearingen of C'ville and Mr. and Mrs. Chas Roundtree of Alamo.-- kbz
