Source: Waveland Independent Newspaper, Waveland, Montgomery Couty, Indiana 22 April 1927

The death of Mort L. Butcher, which took place at the home of his son, Joe, in ElProgresso, Guatamala, Central America, April 2 ends a varied career. He was born in Putnam County in 1861, but lived the greater part of his life in Waveland and Lebanon. He had a brilliant mind and was well-informed on nearly every topic. He engaged in various kinds of soliciting, for a number of years, specializing on group industrial insurance. His first wife died after he moved from Waveland to Lebanon and later he married again. One brother, Will who formerly lived here is in Lebanon. His son, Joe F. Butcher, has been in Guatamala for many years and has risen to a responsible position there in railroad affairs. - typed by kbz
