Mrs. Hazel Fern BUTZ, 72, died at 4:40 p.m. Monday at the home of a niece, Mrs. Jesse Tague in Waveland. She had been seriously ill the past 3 weeks. She had made her home with her niece the past 2 years. Mrs. Butz operated a beauty shop in Terre Haute for 28 years and was also an instruction at a Terre Haute beautician school. She was a member of the Christian Church and OES Chapter No.. 45 at Terre Haute. Born Oct 22, 1885, in Shelbyville, the daughter of James and Mary Mitchell Sexton, she married Frederick BUTZ July 3, 1905 in Shelbyville. He preceded her in death. Survivors include the niece, a son, Frederick of Indianapolis; 3 grandchildren and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at Lewis Creek Baptist Church at Shelbyville. - kbz

Mrs. Hazel Fern Butz, 73 years old, a former Terre Haute beauty shop operator, died at 4:40 o’clock Monday afternoon at the home of a niece, Mrs. Jesse Tague, Waveland. She was a member of Chapter 43, Order of Eastern Star. Besides the niece, surviving are a son, Frederick Butz of Indianapolis; three grandchildren and several other nieces and nephews.  The body was taken to the Machledt & Servies Funeral Home in Waveland, where friends may call after 6 o’clock Tuesday evening.
