Jacob C. Byrd, 26, of Lafayette, died at 3:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, in New Richmond. He was born April 2, 1983, in Lafayette, to John Byrd Jr. and Shirley Slaughterbeck Byrd of New Richmond, who survive. He attended Lafayette Jefferson High School and later moved to north Montgomery County. Mr. Byrd worked for Deb Construction Co. in Hoopeston, Ill., and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed playing guitar and listening to music. Surviving with his parents are his fiancée, Lauren Strasburger of Lafayette; two sons, Briar and Johnathan Byrd at home; a sister, Audra Byrd, and brother, Chad Byrd, both of New Richmond.Also surviving are his grandparents, John and Carolyn Corbin of Lafayette. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the 2 p.m. service Saturday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Interment at Spring Vale Cemetery. Leave condolences at www.soller-baker.com
