Burns - George

Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal Friday, 25 January 1895

Israel Culver and family, of Lafayette, were called here to attend the funeral of George Burns, a stepson, who died suddenly last Saturday at 1 a.m. Funeral on Sunday by J. W. Dudley at the Christian Church with interment at Linden Cemetery. It was a large funeral. His death was rather mysterious. His aunt thinks he got hurt playing football and died from his injuries.
There has not been a death in our place that was so much of a surprise as that of George Burns. The crowded church and the weeping done attest that George had lots of friends. His folks will never believe but what he received a hurt in playing football that took him off in the nineteenth year of his age. Boys, football is dangerous to them that play it.
