Miss Cynthia Butcher died Sunday at her home near Bowers, the cause of death being old age. She was born in Ohio in 1812 and at her death was past ninety years old. She was never married. She was a member of the Lutheran Church and the funeral was held Monday afternoon at the U. B. Church at Bowers, conducted by Rev. Sherrell, pastor of that church. She had been a resident of this county for about fifty years and was a woman of considerable literary ability. She was noted for her charitable deeds and Christian character. No needy person was ever turned away from her door empty handed. At one time she was possessed of considerable property but on account of her habit of giving to the poor and unfortunate, she died a poor woman. -s
