Jan. 9, 1930-Sept. 18, 2011: Norman Francis Cain died at 1:55 p.m. Sunday in Granite Nursing and Rehab Center at Granite City, Ill. He was 81. Mr. Cain served in the Army during the Korea War. He was a truck driver for Warner Trucking Company. He was born Jan. 9, 1930, at Darlington, to Lewis and Sylvia (Holliday) Cain. Survivors include: daughters, Dorothy Smith of Indianapolis and Betty Jean Asbury of Silver Lake; sons, James Allen Cain of Indianapolis, Steven Ray Cain of Mount Vernon, Norman L. Catt of Michigan, Robert Cain of Virginia and Earl Eugene Thompson of Martensville; sisters, Mabel Alice Horton of Russellville, Jeanetta Pearl Harris of Crawfordsville and Patricia Porter of Alton; and brothers, Harold Levon Cain of Thorntown, Ronald Roy Cain of Virginia, Edward Lee Cain of Crawfordsville and Lewis Norman Cain of Jamestown. Daughter Constant Marlene Cain, sister Marcella Lee Pritchett and brother Russell Leon Cain are deceased. A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Independent Order of Odd Fellow Cemetery at Darlington, with Michael Porter officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Lebanon VFW Post 910. Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home, Alton, Ill., is handling the arrangements.
