CARRIE SMITH CALVERT

Carrie SMITH Calvert, one of 7 children born to Mike & Nancy JACK Smith, first saw the light of day on a farm near Portland Mills, August 1, 1881 and departed this life August 10, 1946 after a brief illness at the Putnam County Hospital. On Jan 29, 1905, she was united in marriage to Thomas CALVERT who with her parents, two brothers and a sister preceded her in death. To this union six children were born all of whom survive. Carrie was kind and generous to all with whom she came in contact and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. She was quiet and unassuming, putting her children and home before all else. She leaves to mourn their loss, the six children: Mrs. Clyde SWITZER of Russellville; Charles and Mrs. Randel GRIMES of Waveland; Walter of Greencastle; Mrs. Cecil STULTZ of Rockville; Mrs. George MARTIN of Peoria, Illinois and two daughtesr-in-law, four sons-in-law, 7 grandchildren 3 brothers and many other relatives and friends. The funeral was held at 3:30 Monday afternoon at the McGaughey Funeral Home, Russellville with Rev. CN McBrayer of Waveland in charge and burial in Union Chapel Cemetery. - kbz
