Mrs. Charles Whittington, 711 S. Washington Street has been notified of the death of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth CANINE, of Oxford, Indiana. Mrs. Canine was the daughter of William and Rebecca Davis Whittington and widow of the late Thomas J. Canine, former resident of the Freedom Church neighborhood. Funeral services and burial will take place in Oxford Tuesday. - kbz

Mrs. Elizabeth Frances (Whittington) Canine, 83, widow of Thomas J. Canine, died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at her home here, following a long illness. She was born in Montgomery County and had resided here 30 years. Dec 19, 1873, she was married to Mr. Canine, who died five years ago.  She was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ellard Benedict and Mrs. Coleman Merritt, Oxford; two sons, Hubert, Oxford and Wayne, Eustis, Fla; two brothers, RL Whittington, Bedford, ia; and Walter Whittington, Akron, O; with a sister, Mrs. Abbie Deers, Shelbyville. Funeral arrangements in charge of TT Coffing, were delayed pending arrival of the son from Florida.
