Mrs. Florence M. Canine, 69 widow of Jesse W. Canine, former Crawfordsville businessman, died of a cerebral hemorrhage Tuesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Frances Welsh in Cates. She had been ill several months. Born Aug 2, 1880 at Jamestown, Mrs. Canine was the daughter of Andrew and Carrie Reese Clements. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and Woman's Relief Corps. Active in church and civic affairs of the city most of her life, Mrs. Canine was a former president and former secretary of the Crawfordsville Agenda Society. Mrs. Canine also was well known for her work in the First Methodist Church and the city's parent-teacher organization. In the church she was a leader in the Sunday School and missionary departments for a number of years. She was a former president of the Willson Parent-Teacher Association which she helped to organize. In addition she also assisted with the organization of the Tuttle Parent-Teacher Association. During her early life she was associated with her father in the AS Clements Real Estate Company here. Surviving besides the daughter at whose home she died, are another daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Linderman of Lafayette, a brother, Ray Clements of Cicero; a sister, Mrs. Clara E. VanCleave of Crawfordsville, a half brother, John Clements of this city; a half sister, Mrs. Ruth Barnhill, also of Crawfordsville, a granddaughter, Dorothy Linderman and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Hunt &Son Funeral Home with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery, Rev. Almon J. Coble will officiate.
