Mrs. Leona Ruth CANINE, 78 of 504 E. Main Street, died Sunday afternoon in Culver Hospital. She was a member of the Thorntown United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, Women's Relief Corps and Culver Hospital Auxiliary. Born Jan 4, 1896, at Lebanon she was a daughter of John O. and Millie Mae SMITH. She was married Nov 18, 1914 to Herbert A. Canine who preceded her in death. She lived in Boone County until 1934. Survivors include two sons, Jack K. of Crawfordsville and Lyle of Battle Creek, Michigan; two daughters, Audra Combs of Tampa, Fla; and Donna Ward of Virginia Beach, Va; 8 grandchildren and four greats. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. David Canine officiating. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery at Thorntown.
