Source: Waveland Independent, Dec. 18, 1914

Mrs. John R. Canine, who has been in poor health for a long time, died at her home on E. Howard Street at nine on Monday morning. Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church on Wednesday morning at 11 by Rev. SK Fuson of Rockville, a lifelong friend of the family. Interment at Union Cemrtery. Mrs. Canine was Louvisa E. Moore, and was the daughter of Jacob and Rebecca Moore. She was born in Bourbon County, Kentucky Sept 3, 1840. At the age of fourteen, together with her mother, two brothers and one sister, all of whom have gone to their reward, she came to this county, where she resided until Dec 14, 1914, when the spirit returned to God who gave it. She was married to John R. Canine, Sept 20, 1857. To this union, extending over more than 57 years four children were born: two of whom, William W. of this place and Lyford L. Canine of Paris, Ill with the husband and father survive. She gave her heart to God in early life and was baptized into the Baptist Church of Crawfordsville on the first Sun. in Nov 1862. Upon the organization of the Waveland Church she became a charter member. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and consistent Christian. - kbz
