Lyford Leighton Canine, sole survivor of the children of John Reid and Louvisa Moore Canine, died in Paris, Ill on Saturday morning. Funeral services on Monday afternoon at the Cook & Wright Funeral Home were under the auspices of the Masonic lodge. Burial in Edgar Cemetery. He was born in the Freedom area where his father at that time was a farmer 78 years ago. He married Miss Ida SCOTT of this place. They had no children but adopted Hester, the daughter of Mrs. Canine's brother, Mit, who later became Mrs. Walter Black, now resident in New Orleans. He clerked in Waveland stores but most of his business life was spent in Illinois. At one time he owned a coal mine at Harrisburg. Later he moved to Paris where he engaged in various business enterprises. He had served as JP city alderman and pres. of the chamber of commerce. Resident in Waveland are a sister-in-law, Mrs Martha Canine, two nephews, Victor and Edgar Canine and a niece Mrs. Fred Rice. - kbz
