West Lafayette -- Mary E. Goodin Canine, 72 died in her home at West Lafayette at 1:30 p.m. Monday. She retired from a teaching career in 1974. She had taught at Wingate; Parkersburg; Elston and Mayflower Mill schools. She was graduated from New Richmond HS and Ball State University. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church at Lafayette; Home Builders Sunday School Class, Daughters of the American Revolution, Indian Retired Teachers Association, Home Hospital Auxiliary, New Richmond Bridge Club and American Association of Retired Persons. She was also a 50-year member and past patron of New Richmond OES 377 and was organizer and first president of Post Ouiatenon Chapter of Colonial Dames of the 17th Century. Mrs. Canine was born April 2, 1913 at Sterling, Colorado and reared at Covington. She was married at Lafayette August 24, 1940 to Ralph A. Canine, who survives. They moved from new Richmond to Lafayette in 1946. Survivors include a daughter, Susan ANDREWS, and a son, Mike A, both of West Lafayette; three grandchildren and a brother, W. Burtin Goodin of Daytona Beach, Florida. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Soller-Baker Funeral Home West Lafayette Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Gary Forbes officiating. Interment will be in the New Richmond Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 pm. Wednesday. The family requests memorial in the form of contributions may be made to the Neo-Natal Unit of Home Hospital. -- typed by kbz
