Mrs. Mertie E. CANINE, 65 a resident of Browns Valley died Saturday morning at 5:30 o'clock at Culver hospital. She had been in failing health for a number of years. She was born on July 18, 1878 at Browns Valley, the daughter of Peter and Hannah MILES, she was married to Tude Canine who survives along with two son, Russell of Crawfordsville and Kenneth of Washington, DC; a daughter, Mrs. George LOMAN of the Freedom neighborhood; one brother, Reuben Miles of Browns Valley, a sister Mrs. Elizabeth SUTTON of Harrisburg, PA also 4 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 o'clock at the Freedom Baptist Church with burial in Freedom Cemetery. - kbz
