Browns Valley -- Tude Canine, 92, retired farmer and longtime resident of the Browns Valley area, died Sunday at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville about two hours after he was brought there by ambulance for treatment. he had been in failing health about six months. Mr. Canine was born March 20, 1878, in Montgomery County, the son of Lemuel J. and Lessie Milligan Canine. His first marriage was in 1878 to Mertie Miles. She preceded him in death in 1944. He was next married to Frances Deere in 1948 in New Market. She survives. Mr. Canine had been a farmer in the Browns Valley area and in the late 1920s was president of the old Browns Valley State Bank. He was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church north of Waveland. In addition to his first wife, Mr. Canine was preceded in death by a son, Russell and two brothers. Survivors in addition to the widow include a son, Kenneth Canin e of Brownsburg; a daughter, Mrs. George Loman of Waveland; a step son Frank Deere of Greencastle; a step daughter, Mrs. Nelson Bayless of Browns Valley; five grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Dr. JR Canine of Browns Valley, and two sisters, Mrs. Howard Munns of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Leroy Delp of Browns Valley. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Machledt & Servies Funeral Home in Waveland. Rev. Allen Roberts, pastor of the Freedom Baptist Church will officiate. Burial in Freedom Church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Tuesday. - kbz
