The Rev. David G. CANINE, 70 of Rt 7, Crawfordsville died at 11:20 p.m. Monday in Culver Union Hospital. He had been seriously ill since March. He retired from the ministry after serving 50 years. He organized Eastside Baptist Church and had served pastorates at First Baptist Church, Blanchester, Ohio; Tabernacle Baptist Church, Hazel Park, Michigan and Calvary Baptist Church, Highland. He served on the boards of directors of the Baptist Mid Missions at Cleveland, Ohio and of the Shepherds Home and School at Union Grove, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Waveland High School and Wabash College. The Rev. Canine was born October 2, 1915 in Montgomery County, to Robert R. and Alice Stilwell Canine. He married Margaret Priebe on July 16 1937, at Waveland. She survives. Also surviving are two sons: Dr. Samuel Lee of Dallas, Texas and Dr. John D. of Birmingham, Michigan; two daughters, Patricia J. ALLEN of Munster and Rebecca S. OVERHOLT of Dallas; a sister, Mrs. Thelma SMITH of Rt 7, Crawfordsville; 12 grandchildren; and a great grandchild. Services are set for 10:30 a.m. Friday in East Side Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Dooley and members of Canine's family officiating. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, Waveland. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the David Canine Memorial Fund at East Side Baptist Church. -- kbz

David G. CANINE has accepted the pastorate of the First Baptist Church of Blanchester, Ohio. Rev. Canine, who was formerly a pastor for 8 years in Crawfordsville and has been engaged the past 4 years in the field of Evangelism, holding meetings over 12 of 15 states, is a local boy and a graduate of Waveland High School. The Canines plan to move into the parsonage about Sept 1 after the repairing and redecorating is finished. -- kbz
