Mrs. Stella M. Caplinger, 70-year-old widow of Guy E. Caplinger, who once operated a grocery here at Market and Morgan Streets, died Wednesday at 9:20 p.m. at the Golden Rule Nursing Home in Danville, Ind. She had been in failing health for five years. Born Aug. 3, 1888, in Centerville, Iowa, she was the daughter of Irvin and Sarah Roberts Shaffer. She was married to Mr. Caplinger on Nov. 19, 1908. Since 1946 she had lived in Danville with her daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Servies. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Crawfordsville. Survivors, in addition to the daughter, include a son, Gregory Caplinger of Lafayette; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A son, Maurice, preceded her in death in March, 1942. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Dr. Ralph W. Graham, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
