Jasper L. Carlile, father of Rev. Keith S. Carlile, pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church here, died at 10:15 a.m. Saturday in Home Hospital at Lafayette. He had been in failing health about six months. Mr. Carlile, 74, resided at Boswell. He was born Dec. 20, 1893, in Scott County and was married Aug. 30, 1916, to Mearl Smith. He had farmed in Benton and Jasper counties for more than 55 years and had served as president of the Benton County Fair Board the past 15 years. He was a member of the Boswell United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include the widow; two sons, Robert L. of Freeport, Ill., and Rev. Carlile of this city; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Mutter of Garden City, Kans., Mrs. Lee Rock of Payson, Ariz., and Mrs. Richard Tingley of Boswell; three brothers, Merle of Remington, Clifford of Boswell and Herbert of Rochester; a sister, Mrs. Harry Durr of Boswell; and 13 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Boswell United Methodist Church with Rev. Lawrence Tedrow officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Boswell Cemetery. Friends may call at the Yuill Funeral Home at Boswell. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Men's Bible Class at the Boswell United Methodist Church.--waw
