DARLINGTON -- Fred Carroll, 83, retired farmer of this community, died Thursday night in Bowles Convalescent Home. A native of Virginia, he was a son of Harvey and Amanda Gibson Carroll and was born July 4, 1885. He was married in Darlington to Maud Rosebraugh on Dec. 27, 1911. She died April 25, 1966. Mr. Carroll was a member of the Methodist Church. He was the last of a family of 11. Survivors include a son, Elwin James Carroll of Lafayette; two granddaughters, Mrs. Beverly Berwick of New Jersey and Mrs. Barbara Wichmann of Lafayette; a step-granddaughter, Elizabeth Lucas, and step-grandson, Robert Carroll of Lafayette, and a great-granddaughter. Services are announced for 2 p.m. Sunday at Bright Funeral Home in Darlington, where friends may call after 4 p.m. Saturday. Rev. A. L. Vermillion will officiate, and burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.--waw
