Mrs. Martha Cason was born in North Carolina, Feb 19, 1803 and departed this life Feb 6, 1892, aged 88 years 11 months 6 days. She was the wife of the late Wm. Cason. Her childhood was spent in Preble County, Ohio. She united with the Methodist Church at the early age of 14. Was married to Wm. Cason in 1823 and resided in Liberty Union, Indiana for a number of years. In 1845 she removed her membership from the Methodist to the Christian Church of which she has since been a devoted member. They came tot his county in 1848 after which her membership was placed in the "Providence Christian Church" at Beckville, this county. She was the mother of 11 children of whom 4 daughters survive: Mrs. A.B. Fosdick, of Liberty, Ind; Mrs. Robert Finch, Mrs. Maggie Arenhart and Miss Orleva Cason of this county. Her life, it may be said was one of purest Christian character, a loyal wife, a devoted mother, a kind, charitable friend and a true follower of Christ. She was a woman without an enemy and died as she had lived with praises of the Lord upon her lips. Funeral services were conducted by Elder Plunkett at the family home six miles east of this city on Tuesday Feb 9. The widow of the late Wm Cason died yesterday at her home near Mace. She had reached her eighty eighth year and leaves four daughters to mourn her loss. She was a devout Christian of unusual faith and zeal and her life was a beautiful example of her belief. Her numerous friends while mourning her death rejoice in what no one can doubt is her entrance to another and better world.
