Died at Fort Worth Texas at 8 o'clock Friday morning Dec 28, 1883, Jacob Catterlin of cancer of the face, aged 64 years. Jacob Catterlin was born in Butler County, Ohio in 1819. At the tender age of three years he accompanied his father to Montgomery County, Indiana where he has since resided. He was attacked several years ago by a cancer which made its appearance in his mouth and has caused him indescribable suffering. He has in the last few years made sevearl excrusions to Hot Springs and Eureka Springs, Arkansas in the vain hope of conquering the monster. A few weeks ago he left for Fort Worth, Texas. On Wednesday of last week, he telegraphed his family that he was very ill and his son, Otho started immediately. Before he could reach his father, another telegram annoucned his death, "Uncle Jake Catterlin" as he was familiarly called was one of Montgomery County's oldest and best citizens. A kind neighbor, an upright, law abiding citizen an honest man, his death is universally regretted throughout the county. He leaves a wife and 7 children. - kbz
