Martha J. Ellis Canine was born Jan 23, 1826, age 73 years 1 month and 23 days. She was born in Shelby Co, Ky and brought to this state when 8 years old. She was married to William Canine when 19 years old; this union was severed about 15 years ago, when the dear husband was taken from her, since which time she has remained a widow. She united with the Missionary Baptist Church at Freedom when 18, and continued a faithful member until the organization of the Baptist church in Waveland, at which time she went into that, and continued a faithful member until her death. She leaves one brother, two sisters and three children and a number of grandchildren, also a great many relatives and friends to mourn their loss; but their loss is only her great gain, for she has gone to join that rest which remains for God's children. Funeral services were held on Saturday at Union Church conducted by Rev. WT Cuppy.- kbz
