Darlington Jan 1 – J. Frank Caldwell, 64 years of age and one of the best known men in this vicinity, was found dead in his garage here this afternoon by his daughter, Miss Elda Caldwell, a victim of the fumes of carbon monoxide. Mr. Caldwell had gone to the garage about 4 o’clock to look over the car to see if it was ready for service Monday morning. When he was gone a longer time than it was deemed necessary, his daughter stepped to the garage and found her father dead. Dr. Pollom was called and pronounced Mr. Caldwell’s death was due to carbon monoxide gas coming from the automobile. The garage doors were closed when the body was found. – kbz
