Eli Chadwick, a well known citizen of this county died today just before noon in the Central Hospital for the insane in Indianapolis. Mr. Chadwick was 64 years of age and has been a resident of Montgomery County all his life. His death was unexpected although his health had been very poor for some time. Mr. Chadwick was born on a farm near Mace and lived there all his life until a few years ago, when he moved to Crawfordsville and occupied a residence on Walnut Street. HIs parents were John and Pemina Chadwick, both of whom have been dead for many years. His wife, ELizabeth and two sons, Clint and Harry besides a brother, Jehu Chadwick of Mace and sister, Mrs. Bennet Swain and a brother, James Chadwick of this city survive. Death was caused by gangrene. About a year ago the deceased was a sufferer from a severe attack of jaundice which caused him to lose his mind. He was removed to the Central Hospital at Indianapolis where he has been since. The first of last week blood poisoning developed in one of his toes and this finally resulted in death.Mr. Cahdwick was a Democrat in politics and well known over the county. The funeral services wil be held some time Sunday. H is wife, Mrs. Chadwick and two sons, Clint and Harry and James Chadwick were to Indianapolis this morning and were at his bedside when he passed away. - kbz
