Jamestown -- Lester Emory Charters, 71 of Plainfield died Thursday morning in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette. He was a patient there four days. He had been in ill health for the past two months. He was born in Montgomery County Nov 28 1898 to Carrington and Evelyn Eishelman Charters. ON Sept 24, 1924 he married Dorris Albertson at Crawfordsville. Mr. Charters was a member of the American Legion at Darlington. He retired 3 years ago after being employed for 30 years as a welder at Allison at Indianapolis. Prior to that he had operated a garage at Darlington for 25 years. For the past 19 years he had lived near Plainfield after leaving Darlington. Surviving are a son, Don Charters of Denver, Colo; two daughters, Mrs. Suanne Dody of Darlington and Mrs. Vivivan Myers of Crawfordsville; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Russell & Hitch Funeral Home at Lebanon in charge of Rev. Pau l Taylor. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday. - kgz
