John Nelson Chesterson, son of George and Louisa Fender Chesterson was born near Momence, IL., Sept. 22, 1851. March the 5th, 1877 he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Brocies, who preceeded him in death eleven years ago. He was united in marriage the second time to Mrs. Jennie Graft who passed away one year ago. He has resided the most part of his life in Montgomery County, and was a member of the United Brethern Church and a member of the Waynetown Masonic lodge. He had been seriously ill for the past three weeks at the home of his brother, Frank Chesterson, in Linnsburg, and where he passed away near eight p. m. Wednesday, February 8, at the age of eighty-one years, four months, and sixteen days. One son, Edgar O. Chesterson, preceded him in death in 1925. He is survived by four sons, Fred B., of Fowler, IN., Albert of Waynetown, Dr. Clifford C., of St. Louis, Mo., Rolla of Crawfordsville, two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Eskew of Waynetown and Mrs. Tessie Quillen of Crawfordsville. Twenty-one grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren. Two brothers, Frank and Milton of Linnsburg, one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Clawson of Linnsburg. Also, two step-sons and three step-daughters of West Middleton, Ohio. In the different communities in which he had resided he was known as a devoted husband and father, a good neighbor and christian gentleman. At a ripe old age the final call came to him and he passed peacefully into that relm from which no traveller returns, and may peace be unto his departed soul. Obit contributed by Jan Proctor

Linnsburg-Feb 8 John Nelson Chesterson, one of the oldest and best known residents of this community, died at the home of his brother, Frank Chesterson, with whom he made his home here, Tuesday night at 8 o'clock following an illness of three weeks. Complications caused his death. He lived practically all his life in Montgomery County. Mr. Chesterson was born at Momence, IL., but moved to this county when a small boy. His parents were George and Louisa Sanders Chesterson. He was first married in March 1877 to Mary E. Brocies who died eleven years ago. He later was united in marriage to Jennie Graff, who succumded one year ago. The deceased was a member of The United Brethern Church at Mount Tabor and also was a member of the Masonic lodge at Waynetown. He was well known through-out the entire county. Survivors are four sons, Fred B., Fowler; Albert F., Waynetown, Clifford C., St. Louis, MO., Rolla R., Crawfordsville; two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Eskew, Waynetown; Mrs. Tessie Quillen, Crawfordsville; two brothers, Frank and Milton, both of Linnsburg; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Clawson, Linnsburg; twenty-one grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
