David CLARK

Source: Waveland Independent Waveland, Montgomery County, Indiana Dec. 4, 1914

David Clark was born in Mahaska Co, Iowa, March 30, 1852 and departed this life Nov. 18, 1914 at 8:30 a.m. He was the son of Margaret BILBO & John S. Clark. His father died when he was but a year old, so his early life was spent largely among relatives and friends in Montgomery and Putnam Counties. When a young man he united with the Pisgah and was an earnest Christian worker in the church, scarcely ever missing a service. Though the last years of his life were spent in the midst of racking infirmity of body as drove him besides himself at times, it was the greatest pleasure of his life to talk of the days of service in his church, of the preachers he had known and who had visited in his home and of the meetings he had enjoyed so well. This showed to his friends that whatever imperfections he might show forth, they were but the result of failing strength of mind and body and that the real man at heart still clung to the faith that had been an anchor to his soul. He married Malinda Stokes March 13, 1885. She was to him during the years of their life together a most devoted and faithful companion. During all of the years of his affliction, tho herself frail in body, she sacrificed herself day and night to provide for his comfort. And when the shadows of night were falling around him and he was sinking into rest, her whole thought and prayer was to save him from all possible pain. - kbz
