Salmon CLORE

Salmon Clore, oldest son of Simeon and Mary Lusk Clore, was born at the old Clore homestead four miles north of Waveland July 26, 1847 was married to miss Georgiana Withrow of Troy Mo Oct 11, 1876. He lived his entire life of 69 years in the county of his birth. He devoted his life successfully to farming and stock raising. Thru close application and good management he became one of the most substantial and influential men in his community. He was a man of sterling qualities. His friends could rely on his honor as a man, and upon his integrity as a citizen. Conscientious in the discharge of every duty, his morals were of a high standard. Though he was not a member of the church his heart was full of love for Christ and he always favored Christian principles. He had the most abiding faith in the goodness of God and he was a staunch believer in divine power. He died after a brief illness Dec 30, 1916 in Jacksonville, Florida where he had gone with his wife and Mr. and Mrs. Doren Clore to spend the winter. He is survived by his wife, three sister and three brothers. The following beautiful and comofrting words were his favorite passages of scripture: "As we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am ther eye may be also." Funeral services at the house on Thursday afternoon were in charge of Rev. FB Solin, assisted by Rev. JT Boyer. Interment in Maple Ridge. - kbz
