Darlington - The funeral for Richard "Dick" Cochran, 59, of Darlington will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Burkhart Funeral Home, Darlington with Rev. Clayton Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Saturday. Masonic services will be 8 p.m. Saturday. The family requests memorials in the form of donations to the Montgomery County Shrine Club. Mr. Cochran was fishing on Eagle Lake near Dryden, Ontario, with Gould Clough of Crawfordsville and Clough's son, Brad of Carmel when a storm capsized their boat. Mr. Clough also drowned in the accident. The younger Clough was able to swim to safety. Mr. Cochran's body was recovered Wednesday. Mr. Cochran was retired as a production engineer for Detroit Diesel Allison Division of General Motors at Indianapolis after 23 years of service. He had served with the 38th Quartermaster Unit of the US Army in WWII. He was a member and director of Montgomery County Shrine Club and Greenlawn Cemetery Association and member of Murat Shrine, 32nd degree Mason of Scottish Rite, Montgomery County Ben Hur Floaters, Darlington Masonic Lodge, Darlington Eastern Star, Darlington American Legion and New Richmond United Methodist Church. He had attended New Richmond and General Motors Transportation Engineering schools. He was born in Montgomery County May 19, 1919 a son of Roscoe and Letha Coffman Cochran. He was married to Margaret J. Caldwell on Oct 11, 1940. She survives. Other survivors are 3 daughters, Mrs. Richard (Sharon) Pack of Linden; Mrs. Hugh (Linda) Schoen of Darlington and Mrs. Alan (Sandra) Brown of West Lafayette; two sons, Richard "Mike" Cocran and Mark Cochran of Darlington; 3 sisters, Mrs. William (Marilyn) Snelling of Birmingham, Mich; Mrs. James (Mary) Sexton of Crawfordsville and Mrs. T om (Judy) Hamilton of Lafayette; 3 brothers, Maurice Cochran of Charlestown; David Cochran of Crawfordsville and Dale Cochran of New Market; 3 grandchildren; a stepgranddaughter, 7 nephews and 8 nieces.
