Waveland -- Mrs. Emma Compton, 94, a long-time resident of Waveland, the widow of Newton Compton, died at 6:45 a.m. Saturday in the Westbrook Nursing Home at Crawfordsville. Born Dec. 20, 1864, in Jefferson County, Ind., Mrs. Compton was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Means Risk. She was married twice. Her first husband was John Payton. She married Mr. Compton in January of 1914. Surviving are a son, Charles Payton of Waveland, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Machledt and Servies Funeral Home at Waveland. Burial will be at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Rev. Lester Niles will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home. - kbz
