Sylvester J. Connell, 37, Los Angeles truck driver and a former Crawfordsville resident, died suddenly Monday in Oakland, Calif. Connell had apparently suffered a heart seizure. Connell had lived in Los Angeles since his departure from Crawfordsville 15 years ago. He was a long-time employee of United Van Lines. He was the son of William J. Connell, deceased, and Mrs. John Ferris who now lives in Mellott. Connell was born on June 15, 1930, in Montgomery County where he was reared and educated. He was a veteran of World War II. Surviving besides the mother are the wife, Patricia; a son, Randy; a daughter, Wanda; three brothers, William O. of Crawfordsville, Francis J. of Cleburne Tex., and Daniel A. of Montrose, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Floyd Wilson of Crawfordsville. Services are pending at the Bright Funeral Home.

Services for Sylvester Connell who died Monday in California will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Bright Funeral Home with Rev. Nelson Scott of the Smartsburg Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday.

Mellott, Ind. Sylvester J. Connell, 37, of Oakland, Calif., son of Mrs. John Ferris of Mellott, died unexpectedly following a heart attack at Oakland, Calif. He had been employed by the United Van Lines for many years and had resided in California for the past 15 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was born June 15, 1930, at Harden County, Ky., and was reared and educated in Montgomery County. Survivors include his mother; his widow, Patricia, a son, Randy, and a daughter, Wanda, all at home; three brothers, William of Crawfordsville, Francis of Cleburne, Tex., and Daniel of Montrose, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Floyd Wilson of Crawfordsville. He was preceded in death by his father, William J. Connell. Services were today at the Bright Funeral Home in Crawfordsville. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
