Angeline Hazelrigg Baird, daughter of William and Mary Baird, was born in Parkersburg, Montgomery county, Indiana, March 16, 1844. Her girlhood days were passed there and later she lived in Walnut township and at the time of her marriage to Marion A. Conner in 1861, was living on the farm now owned by Mrs. Lou Peterson. She was the mother of five sons and three daughters. Those living are Mary Powell, Dr. W.O. Conner, Laura Linn, Zula Smiley, Smith Conner and Charles Conner. Two sons, Samuel and Frank, are deceased. She leaves three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Nicely, Mrs. Alice Shultz and Miss Georgia Baird and two brothers, Benjamin and Richard Baird. Her death occurred Feb. 11, 1914, aged almost seventy years. Angeline Conner has lived over fifty years in this vicinity and was well known as a devoted mother and a good neighbor and friend. She was for many years a devoted member of the Presbyterian church at Union Hill, where she seventeen years ago followed her husband to his burial place. Her former pastor, the Rev. A. S. Buchanon, conducted the last sad rites. She was a member of Porthenia Lodge, Daughters of Rebekah and was a faithful member of that institution. Her life was full of good deeds that are not necessary to record for they will ever live in the hearts and minds of those who knew her best. The funeral took place Feb. 13, at the Christian church at 10:30 and the burial was beside her husband long gone before.
