Charles Conner, youngest of 9 children of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Conner was born Feb 26, 1862, at Crawfordsville. When about 16 he learned the baker's trade which he followed thru life. On Feb 26, 1887, he was married to Anna L. Fields of Crawfordsville. Ten children were born to this union, 3 of whom died in infancy. He was a charter member of the Modern Woodmen of America of Bedford and in March 1902 moved to Waveland, transferring his membership to the local WM of A. He was stricken with bronchial pneumonia in November and later an abcess in the chest and leakage of the heart. For 9 weeks and six days he bore his sickness without a murmur, and always said for the nurse he wanted his family, for they were dearer to him and what he lived for. He departed this life Jan 24 at 4:20 a.m. He was 54 years 10 months 29 days old. He is survived by two sisters and two brothers,a loving wife and 7 devoted children, Joe, James Harry and Thomas, and Roseyanna, at home, Mrs. Gomer Grimes of this place and Mrs. Charles Reed of Frankfort and one grandson, Leonard Grimes. Funeral services this afternoon at 2 conducted by Rev. SK Fuson. Interment in Maple Ridge.
