Services were Thursday at the Powers Funeral Home in Crawfordsville, Ind., for Mrs. Mattie Conover, 98, of Crawfordsville, a former resident of Newell Township who died last Tuesday (Jan. 14, 1969) in the Bowles Nursing Home at Crawfordsville. She was a native of Vermilion County, the daughter of Franklin and Mary Lockhart Cunningham. She was married Oct. 23, 1891, to Charles Conover who preceded her in death. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lona Huffman of Crawfordsville; a son, Howard Conover of Crawfordsville Route 2; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery at Crawfordsville.

Mrs. Mattie Conover, 98, 105 N. Blair St., died at 6 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Bowles Nursing Home. She was the last of a family of six children. She was born in Vermillion County, Ill., the daughter of Franklin Cunningham and Mary Lockhardt. She was married Oct. 23, 1891 to Charles Conover. She was a member of the First Christian Church and Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Lona Huffman of Crawfordsville; one son, Howard Conover, Rt. 2, Crawfordsville; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Powers Funeral Home here with Rev. John Servies officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
