James M. Conrad is gone; lived long and useful life -- at the age of 81 years, James M. Conrad passed away Friday, at his home north of town. In 1858, he was united in marriage to Mary E. Largent and to this union were born six children, three of whom survive. Mrs. Conrad died in 1872. In 1876 Mr. Conrad married Mrs. Jennie Anrich. To them one child was born, but died in infancy. Mr. Conrad was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jennie Conrad; 3 sons, George, Frank & Edward; a niece, Mrs. George King, whom he reared; 11 grandchildren, one great grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Jane Brewer and one brother, John Conrad, besides several nieces & nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday from Young's Chapel at 2 o'clock with the Rev. CB Stanforth of Trinity ME Church in charge. Burial was made at Odd Fellows' cemetery at Darlington. -- kbz
